And to be honest, if you want a backpacker-ish cheap experience, you should definitely go through some of the enthralling books or read this content piece.

You should grab this chance of visiting the local schools, houses, markets, monasteries, and more. This will help you to know how ordinary people live, what they eat, and which rituals do they follow. So let’s start your elicit journey by mixing with the locals:

The journey of knowing the local people:

The country people love tourists and warmly welcome them. Children would greet or wave you a “Hello” excitedly while you pass by the riverbank. You will also observe crumbling wooden houses leaning randomly, fisherman fishing along the Mekong river, women selling rice, fruits and flowers, and much more.

Ashore you will visit some untrodden villages where craftsmen would be at the duty of working with silk, copper, silver. If requested, they may teach you how to make rice paper during your Vietnam and Cambodia tours. You can roam around the scintillating village in a rickshaw ride or take cart pulled by an Ox. Visit the paddy fields and relax in nature. It is worth visiting the primary school in Cambodia, and if you are well-versed with English, you can gift them a pen, pencil, and notepad and help them.

Have the taste of regional food:

If you are an avid food lover, you would be carried away by the mouthwatering aroma of the local cuisine. All your taste buds would be savored with delicious food across the country. The locals act no different than having food at home. They share their dishes and eat food in a family-style. It would be best if you get the chance to dine ashore with the locals and share some moments of joy with them.

You would almost find it impossible to cross the roads in heavy traffic and can take help from the locals for doing so. Being a Buddhist country, you would discover Buddhist monks all around and are considered highly sacred. We are sure; the locals would not dare to knock them out at any cost.

In Vietnam, you will find local dishes serving rice meals, meat, or any seafood with an extraordinary fish sauce for dipping. You can also try their national dish Pho, which has ingredients like noodles, vegetables, chicken, beef, pork, and shrimp.

On visiting Cambodia, do not forget to try amok, their national food. It is a delicious fish curry steamed in banana leaves, samlor macho trey and char kroeung Sach ko.

If you are cruising, the chef will ride you through the market in Saigon, where you can see how authentic Vietnamese food is prepared and served.

Travelling through the history of the countries:

Only the major tourist spots are covered in Vietnam Cambodia packages. But if you want to explore the real beauty, you should hire a local guide at all the spots including Angkor wat, Bayon, Khmer temple, Phnom Penh and more.

Many full-day excursions will take you to the rich culture of the country and may give some astonishing experiences. Travelling with the locals is the best way one should make for experiencing the inexperienced.

Few things to keep in mind while travelling with the locals are:
